LeBron James has been in the NBA for 20 years, and safe to say he’s seen enough mileage on the court and ample events off of it.

One of them was witnessing WWE superstar “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in his prime, and he has proof, too, on his flip phone.

James was the most spoken-about rookie in the league, and he was the cynosure of all eyes during a Monday Night Raw event in 2003. When WWE announcers Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler spoke about the superstar in the arena, the cameras turned their attention to a young James recording Austin on his phone.

On his part, Austin was happy to have a fan in James and was lavish in his praise for the King. Per Complex:

“I’ve forgotten so many things but I remember that vividly…he had that flip phone and he was taking pictures…He was basketball. I mean everything was about LeBron and he was about to really get going and take over the sport. And to see him out there at the WWE event and be a fan of Stone Cold was very flattering.”

Austin also added that he wanted to interact with James, but he was in his element and that meant the nod to the young star had to wait.

LeBron James Is 38 And Is Still The Driving Force For The Los Angeles Lakers

At 38, LeBron James continues to defy father time and conventional wisdom. He has been the architect of the Los Angeles Lakers’ run who is without the services of Anthony Davis.

The veteran has been in scintillating form this season, averaging 29.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. The Lakers are still miles away from making the play-in and the postseason, but James has been instrumental for the side, contributing heavily to help resurrect their 2022-23 campaign.

Speaking to the media, he shed light on how long he intends to play. Per Spectrum SportsNet:

“I don’t have a number,” James said. “I know as long as my mind stays in it, I can play at this level for a minute. Now, that’s up to my mind. My body is going to be OK because if my mind is into it, I will make sure my body is taken care of and I’ll continue to put in the work.”

For now, the Lakers desperately need James. And the good news is that he’s suiting up for LA and churning out the kind of production that only he could at this advanced stage of his career.
