Luka Doncic’s third 50+ point in his last five games saw him unlock a unique achievement and puts him right alongside the pantheon of NBA greats.

The guard racked up 51 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists to help the Dallas Mavericks pip the San Antonio Spurs 126-125.

And in the process, he joined the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan to become one of the players to prop up three 50-point games before turning 25.

Only 8 players in NBA history have dropped 3 or more 50+ point games in a season before the age of 25:

Only 8 players in NBA history have dropped 3 or more 50+ point games in a season before the age of 25: Luka Doncic, LeBron James. Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Nate Archibald, Wilt Chamberlain

Doncic, 23, has been instrumental for the Mavericks and has been single-handedly carrying the team to wins since the start of the season. His onslaught in the last six games has him pegged as one of the best players this season.

Luka Doncic Has Been On A Tear For The Dallas Mavericks

At the time of writing, Doncic averages 34.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.9 assists this season, and his last five games see him average 45.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 10.2 assists. His stupendous run has had fans hoping that he rightly is awarded MVP.

Also echoing fan sentiments was NBA analyst Bill Simmons who warned LeBron James that he keep playing even after he surpasses Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the leading scorer in the league, or else he would have Doncic vaulting over him in the future as well.

The Mavericks have Doncic to thank for after his exploits saw them sit pretty at fourth place in a stacked Western Conference with a 21-16 record.

They are on a six-game winning streak, and should he churn out the kind of production he is on consistently, they go from prime playoff contenders to bonafide title aspirants. They play the Houston Rockets next, followed by a marquee clash against the Boston Celtics.
