Michael Jordan and LeBron James are widely considered to be the two greatest players of all time. They are often compared to one another, and there is no doubt that both players have ensured that their greatness is remembered for generations.

Both LeBron James and Michael Jordan have had good seasons late in their career. Though both players were/are obviously not the same as they were in his prime, they still had fantastic moments. A recent statistic posted showed just how great they were at 38 years old: LeBron James and Michael Jordan are the only two players to ever put up a 45/10/5 stat line at that age.

There is no doubt that both Michael Jordan and LeBron James are unique talents that have shown the ability to dominate any given game. Their legacies are set in stone, and both were clearly the best player in their generation.

Many People Have Michael Jordan Ahead Of LeBron James

Though LeBron James is a phenomenal player, it is clear that most people have Michael Jordan ahead of him. In fact, Chris Broussard once explained why Michael Jordan is No. 1, and LeBron James is No. 2.

“Jordan is one of the few superstars that we’ve never seen him have that meltdown moment, we even saw Magic have it in the Tragic Johnson series against Boston in 1984, I believe it was. And obviously, LeBron had his against Dallas. Jordan lost, but he never really melted down, he was never the reason they lost… so that is part of the argument.”

“I once thought there was a time where LeBron would be viewed as the GOAT… What we do know though is that Michael Jordan dominated the league in a way that LeBron simply hasn’t… Jordan locked down the entire league when LeBron locked down one conference. That’s the difference… LeBron is phenomenal, but Jordan is No. 1, the GOAT. LeBron is No. 2.”

Those are good arguments, and it is hard to argue that anyone had a higher peak than Michael Jordan. However, LeBron James is widely considered to be the most complete player ever, and his longevity is definitely better than Michael Jordan’s.

At the end of the day, though, it is important to remember that both Michael Jordan and LeBron James have been great in their own right. Hopefully, in time, we will see fans appreciate the greatness of both players.
