LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony have had a very good friendship that goes from the time they were teenagers. They were seen as generational talents by everybody and starred in big duels before making it to the NBA in the same draft.

Once they entered the league, the duels between them were something to watch, but whatever rivalry people tried to create between them didn’t work, as they grew close and became best friends with time.

Melo and Bron once went to the Bahamas, the place where their relationship probably got closer, and they became best friends. Melo almost lost his life during that trip if it wasn’t for LeBron, who showed up in clutch time and saved his friend.

LeBron James Once Prevented Carmelo Anthony From Having A Very Early Death

During a 2021 interview with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on ‘All the Smoke,’ Melo detailed that moment and what went through his mind during those seconds, as well as LeBron’s big reaction to get him out of trouble.

“My head is in the water, I’m snorkeling and I look up, every time I look up the water, the boat is further and further away. I’m getting pushed by the current and I’m like [calling out], ‘Yo!’ Everybody’s looking at me like I’m joking and I’m like, ‘Yo, I need help.’ And I see Bron jump in the water…and I just see Bron, he’s like, ‘I got you champ,’ he grabbed me went back to the boat.”

This was definitely a big moment for these two. Fortunately, nothing worse happened, and Melo could continue with his trip and his life. These two were supposed to share touches earlier during their careers, but some decisions by Melo ruined those plans.

They finally joined forces in Los Angeles, but the Lakers didn’t have much success with Anthony and James together on the court. This was the last time Melo played in the league, as he keeps trying to find a new team while Bron keeps struggling with the Los Angeles Lakers.
