The Los Angeles Lakers are having an incredibly weird season. Despite having one of the worst supporting casts in the NBA, the combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis has kept the Lakers in the hunt for a playoff spot after a disastrous 2-10 start.

AD getting injured yet again has been a massive blow to the Lakers’ season, as he had been their best player all year long, and the load falls once again on LeBron James. The Lakers have to be active in the trade market to get some help, as a month without AD could be disastrous for the Lakers.

Lakers insider Jovan Buha has revealed a list of 8 players the Lakers are looking at for a trade this season. These players are Crowder, Eric Gordon, Alec Burks, Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington, Kelly Oubre Jr., Josh Richardson, and Jakob Poeltl.

“In addition to the other names that have been attached to the Lakers, some others to watch that are expected to be available are Jae Crowder, Eric Gordon, Alec Burks, Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington, Kelly Oubre Jr., Josh Richardson and Jakob Poeltl, according to those sources.” (h/t The Athletic)

These players aren’t impactful enough to change the direction of LA’s season, but they can be crucial rotational pieces that’ll be more valuable when AD is back and they are given a chance to excel in their roles.

What Do The Lakers Need To Change?

The Lakers’ guard rotation is genuinely not working out despite the dearth of them on the roster. Kendrick Nunn and Dennis Schroder are incredibly inconsistent, Russell Westbrook needs to be on the bench for a better fit, and Patrick Beverley has been one of the worst guards in the NBA this season.

If you’re looking to replace AD for his time out, you can’t go for a big like Jakob Poeltl, as it’ll complicate the Lakers’ play style due to his awkward fit alongside AD. Davis needs to play as a center, and Poeltl won’t allow that to happen.

A forward is their best move, so getting Kelly Oubre or PJ Washington from the Hornets could be their best move right now. Moving those underperforming guards will make the Lakers clean up the clutter in the position and add depth where they really need it.
