Looking at the Golden State Warriors‘ performance this season, one will wonder what is going wrong with the team. After all, the team won the 2021-22 NBA Championship in great fashion. But their start to the 2022-23 NBA season hasn’t been kind to the team. They have struggled to win even the easiest of matchups this season.

As a result, the Warriors currently have a record of 6-9 after losing against the Phoenix Suns. An even more concerning stat for the Dubs this season has been their performance on the road. The Warriors are currently 0-8 on the road, which means the Warriors have a great 6-1 record at home.

Although there are still a plethora of games left in the season, it’s understandable that fans are panicking after this slow start.

Stephen A. Smith On The Warriors’ Performance So Far

Apart from fans, the media has shown its fair share of concerns about the Warriors’ performance this season. The most recent analyst to do so was Stephen A. Smith. In a recent video, the veteran analyst shared his thoughts on the team after a 0-8 start on the road and what he thinks of the team’s chances of winning another title.

“I have to confess that I’m concerned because they are the 27th ranked defense in the National Basketball Association. That is not something that we have customarily associated with the Golden State Warriors. I think in this moment, we have to appreciate the fact that all of these years have been talking about the greatness of the Splash Brothers and their shooting prowess and how potent this team was offensively. Even though we would mention it, we didn’t give the due appreciation they deserved to what they did defensively. … I cannot tell you right now, how disappointed I’m in their bench.”

The Warriors have struggled defensively throughout the 2022-23 NBA season. Moreover, most have blamed it on their bench and the young guys. So it’s obvious the biggest thing that the team needs to improve is its defense. Because the offense has been just fine for the team, thanks to the brilliance of Stephen Curry.
