The Brooklyn Nets have been looking incredibly shaky this season, with the team struggling to even become a .500 record team. However, Kevin Durant led the roster to a great 109-107 win over the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, the Portland Trail Blazers.
The game was sealed by Royce O’Neale, who scored the game-winning tip-in to secure an 11-point, 11-rebound, and 11-assist triple-double for himself. There were great performances by the likes of Yuta Watanabe and Ben Simmons, who had a 15-point night on 0 missed attempts.
Fans were happy to see the progress the Nets made after Durant openly called out the quality of the players on the roster.

Kd called Royce O’Neale a used car salesman and he saves the Brooklyn Nets with a game winning tip in.
The Basketball Gods don’t like ugly 🤣🤣🤣

Royce O’Neale’s first triple-double comes in clutch fashion as the tip-in clinched the Nets’ win over Portland. Kyrie is set to return on Sunday.

Bro, Watanabe nice

This Yuta Watanabe performance has been insanely impressive for so many reasons.
Clutch three-point shooting, huge rebounds, running the floor.
Just played outstanding defense on Dame in the final minute to force a miss.

Ben Simmons 15 points, 6-6 from the field 3-4 from the FT line, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, & lock down defense. Yes, Ben Simmons is still elite.

This is the best Ben Simmons has looked this year

There could be no complaints about KD’s performance, as he scored 35 points and kept the Nets in the game long enough to be in a final-shot situation. He missed what could have been the game-winner but O’Neale ensured the time gets a win with a clutch offensive rebound and 2 points.
Is This Another False Start By The Nets?
The Nets’ season has been full of inconsistencies. After their cold start to the season which saw Steve Nash lose his job, the team put a couple of wins together under Jacque Vaughn and got him installed as the permanent head coach. However, the team again went on a losing streak before getting this very impressive win.
All this shows is that we know this Nets team is a threat in the East when everything is going right. With Kyrie Irving’s impending return to the squad, it’ll be interesting to see how that dynamic impacts the lineup.
The Nets won’t get nights like this one from Yuta Watanabe, so it’s good they made the most of it and won tonight. Hopefully, more players like him can step up consistently, as Royce O’Neale also did against the Blazers.
