The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that has started the year slow, and they currently have a 3-10 record through their first 13 games. There is no doubt that they need to find a way to turn things around and become a more competitive team. Perhaps that can happen through a trade.
A recent report from Sean Deveney of Heavy suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers have some interest in Terry Rozier. It was also noted that the Los Angeles Lakers would have to give up some picks for a trade to happen.
Point guard Terry Rozier, forward Gordon Hayward and center Mason Plumlee are three guys executives around the league are eyeing in Charlotte, and would-be contenders teams like the Knicks, Heat, Mavericks, Suns, and Lakers are expected to inquire should those players be put on the market.
“Rozier is a little tougher because he has the contract (first of a four-year, $96 million deal) but he has fans with the Lakers, if they want to give up some picks.”
Terry Rozier is a good shooter and shot creator, and he should be able to fit in perfectly as a third option next to Anthony Davis and LeBron James. There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers need the skill set that Rozier provides, and we’ll see if they end up trading for him in the future.
The Los Angeles Lakers Have Also Been Linked With Josh Richardson And Doug McDermott
The Los Angeles Lakers have not yet made a trade, and it is clear that the team is keeping its options open. A recent report also stated that they have been talking with the San Antonio Spurs about a potential Russell Westbrook trade that would get them Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott.
According to a source, the Los Angeles Lakers have targeted Richardson and McDermott in a trade that would involve Russell Westbrook. However, talks haven’t gained traction because the Lakers are only willing to relinquish a pair of second round picks in return for both players.
Richardson (41.9%) and McDermott (43.1%) have been shooting extremely well from three-point range this season for the Spurs. Considering the Lakers are last in the league in three-point shooting at 28.4%, Los Angeles may eventually decide to increase their offer for San Antonio’s sharpshooting duo.
If the Spurs do land Westbrook in a trade, the source says the Spurs would buy out his contract and allow him to become a free agent.
Obviously, the talks have not yet gotten anywhere, but this is definitely a solid path for the team as well. Both Richardson and McDermott can help the team address its 3PT shooting problem. The Lakers have notably been linked with Indiana Pacers guard Buddy Hield as well.
It remains to be seen which trade the Los Angeles Lakers end up doing or whether they will make a trade at all. Hopefully, whatever move they make will help them turn their season around and get back to the playoffs.
