Trae Young Had Big Praise For Co-Star Dejounte Murray: “He Is Good At Everything.”

Dejounte Murray is a versatile player on the court.

Dejounte Murray was a first-time All-Star during the 2021-22 season, putting up averages of 21.1 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 9.2 APG. He is also known as an elite defensive guard on top of his offensive skills.

This summer, Dejounte Murray was traded to the Atlanta Hawks by the San Antonio Spurs. They are clearly engaging in a rebuild, and it was certainly a smart decision for them to trade Murray and get some more draft picks for the future. They also did right by Dejounte Murray, sending him to a destination where he can be on a competitive team and form a star duo with point guard Trae Young.

It seems as though Trae Young is hyped about having a new co-star. He recently offered some high praise for Dejounte Murray, claiming that Murray is “good at everything” and that he’s ready to “start playing games”. KL Chouinard of NBA.com relayed the news.

“He’s good at everything: defense, scoring, passing, rebounding, playmaking,” Trae said of Dejounte. “Having someone just as competitive as I am in the backcourt, it’s going to be fun. I can’t wait to start playing games.”

Hopefully, we see this new partnership work out for the Atlanta Hawks. The team’s offense had issues at the time last season, as opposing defenses would load up on Trae Young to limit his impact. With Dejounte Murray, that won’t be as easy to do.

The Atlanta Hawks Could Be A Dark Horse Contender In The East

Even though the Atlanta Hawks got better, most people will agree that they are not close to being the championship favorites. However, they are definitely a solid squad on both ends of the floor and could make some noise if they get lucky when the playoffs roll around.

The Atlanta Hawks have clearly committed to building around Trae Young, and many around the league view him as a budding superstar. He is an elite scorer, playmaker, and 3PT shooter, and he notably led the league in total assists and points during the 2021-22 season. That has not been done since Nate Archibald did it with the Kansas City Kings.

Hopefully, we see the Atlanta Hawks have a successful year. Though they were eliminated in the first round during the 2022 playoffs, they are still a good team that could potentially get far in the playoffs if the conditions are right, on top of having a good regular season.
