The Brooklyn Nets have been one of the more talented teams in the NBA over the last couple of years and it is up for debate whether they have been the most talented. What isn’t up for debate, though, is that they have been the most dysfunctional bunch as well.
Whether it be Kyrie Irving’s crazy antics or James Harden’s departure or Kevin Durant’s trade request, there is seemingly always some issue to deal with. Considering all the drama, it isn’t too surprising that they have underachieved for all the talent they have had, but it seems like the team might finally be turning a corner.
Patty Mills Says The Nets Culture Has Changed For The Better
Patty Mills got to see all of it after he signed with the Nets last season and it must have been quite a change for him, having spent 10 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs probably had the best culture in the league, while the culture at the Nets has come under a lot of criticism. Mills, however, stated during media day that he believes things are getting much better now as he stressed the importance of having a good culture.

“It’s the foundation of all successful championship-winning teams,” Mills said about forging those bonds in the locker room. “The things that you can create off the court just helps with all the trust on the floor. I think the more that we can do that stuff, we had a great team meal last night where everyone was there. The first few days here have been night and day different feeling than what we’ve had. I believe in all of that stuff, the amount of things that we can go through off the court, we can build that chemistry and build that Camaraderie will only on court.”
We can only go by his word here and for the sake of the Nets, we hope things would be a bit quieter on the drama front. There will be some of it no matter what they do, however, as Kyrie has a habit of causing drama with his antics every now and then.
As for the rest, Kevin Durant seems to be putting his turbulent offseason behind him as he refocuses on leading the Nets to the promised land, while Ben Simmons is finally set to make his debut for the team against his former team, the 76ers, in the preseason.
