Shaquille O’Neal Says Zion Williamson Losing Weight Could Be A Problem For Him: “They’re Gonna Bring That Pain… It’s Gonna Be Hard Fouls. I Just Hope His New Little Body Can Withstand It.”

Shaquille O'Neal sees some problems with Zion Williamson's weight loss.

Zion Williamson’s return is one of the most highly anticipated things in the league this season. And the latest pictures and videos of Zion looking ripped and shredded are very much hyping fans up even more. Zion’s weight and shape have been a matter of discussion since he first came into the league, with many blaming his injuries on the fact that he weighed quite a bit, especially last season.

However, it seems that Zion has taken all of that to heart, streamlined his diet and exercise routine, and slimmed down. Now, most take is a sign of him taking his game very seriously moving forward, but there are some downsides to it as well. One of those downsides is that the mass he had would help him bully players in the paint, which he now may not be able to do as effectively as he did before.

Shaquille O’Neal Highlighted One Issue That Might Arise Out Of Zion Williamson’s Weight Loss

Shaquille O’Neal is someone that knows a thing or two about playing bully ball. Shaq has always been a massive human being, and he used this very effectively during his prime to dominate anybody that stood before him. And while the rest of the NBA world seems to celebrate Zion slimming down, O’Neal thinks there could be a problem that arises out of Williamson’s decision, as he said on the Big Podcast

“When I start losing weight getting thin, I would get injured more from contact but when I was big and looked out of shape, I was in charge. I was running people over. They were fouling me I couldn’t even feel it. But listen, he looks good, I wish him well but I liked him when he was big Zion.

“He’s a big guy, did you see how he was jumping and how he was playing? So, now he looks good but he’s Zion. So, they’re gonna bring that pain, they gonna be bringing that force when they play against him, it’s gonna be hard fouls. I just hope his new little body can withstand that.”

This is an interesting perspective from O’Neal, one that a lot of fans would not have recognized or realized when initially responding to Zion’s new physique. The Pelicans man is expected to have a big season this year, and hopefully, he has still retained his strength and can put on some epic displays of his skill and athleticism.
