The NBA is filled with moments of players doing incredible stuff to beat their defenders. Watching these skillful moves is what makes basketball so exciting, and everyone loves it when a player pulls off some slick handles or hits an insane shot. But there is one highlight above else that most basketball fans love, and that is the art of the dunk, putting a defender on a poster.
It’s a point of pride for many NBA stars to have at least one memorable dunk over someone. One doesn’t need to be a superstar to make it happen either. Role players can make it happen on the right play too. But the most memorable ones are often the ones from stars on stars, and the league’s most exciting talents have always had at least one of those signature moments.
Derrick Rose may not have ended up becoming a Hall of Famer in the NBA in the long term, but for a while, in his youth, he looked like he would become one of the best. Rose was marketable, exciting, talented, and as athletic as they come. Some of his dunks are the most vicious the NBA has ever seen, and one of those was on none other than Goran Dragic.
Goran Dragic Spoke About Derrick Rose Dunking On Him
Well, Goran Dragic finds himself on the Chicago Bulls now, having signed on as a free agent. And understandably, the Bulls media wanted to know his feelings about being destroyed by DRose on that one play. Dragic humored them, describing it as his nightmare (via NBC Sports).
“Yes, this is my nightmare,” Dragic said with a wide grin and hearty laugh as a reporter reminded him of the event. “The funny thing, this was the only time that somebody dunk on me in my whole NBA career.
“I came to him, I said, ‘You had to do it like that?’” Dragic cracked.
“It was my second year in the league. First year, I did not play much. So my second year I started to play a little bit. So I had to go for that play,” he said. “Of course if I knew now I would never go.”
If he could, Dragic would probably make a business decision given the option again. No player likes being at the receiving end of a highlight like that. The Slovenian will be hoping he can impress with the Bulls though, and give fans of the franchise other memories to recognize him by. And he should watch out if they play the Knicks, Derrick Rose has said he’s back at his rookie weight.
