Kevin Garnett was known for leaving it his all on the hardwood. His intensity, athleticism, and explosive style of play made him one of the best players in the sport, but the traits also spelled trouble when he called time on his playing career in 2016.

It was a no-brainer that Garnett mulled a comeback at one point during his retirement. It hadn’t yet sunk in that his playing days were over, and in an interview back in 2017, the star admitted that it wasn’t easy to keep aside the fact that he had played for two decades.

In an interview with The Associated Press, the forward opened up about how he spent sleepless nights to the point that it worried his wife who felt there was something wrong with him.

“You get sweaty at night and I’m tossing and turning,” Garnett admitted. “My wife is like, ‘What the hell is wrong with you?’ When you do something for so long and you start to program your body, muscle memory, and everything it comes back to you inadvertently.”

Kevin Garnett’s Coaching Stint Never Took Off Either

After finishing up his decorated career, Garnett was keen to share his knowledge of the game with a young Minnesota side, but it wasn’t meant to be. He had initially planned to be part of the franchise’s coaching unit or the front office, but the death of coach Flip Saunders in 2015 changed things.

While he felt he had a deal with owner Glen Taylor, things didn’t pan out the way they were supposed to.

I told Thibs [then head coach Tom Thibodeau] I want to work with him, but obviously me and Glen [Taylor] don’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of things and that’s how it’s going to be,” he explained.

Garnett recently shared his thoughts on how the Timberwolves squad could go the distance and finish in the Top 4.

The team acquired Rudy Gobert in the offseason, something he believed would bolster the defense. One of the major issues with the team last season was their erratic and penetrable defense, and the Hall of Famer is now optimistic about their chances. There’s no doubt the outfit could benefit with him on the sidelines, but whether that happens remains to be seen.
