LeBron James is one of the savviest players and businessmen in the NBA. He’s been at the top for 2 decades now and has learned exactly what to do and what not to do in his bid to build a lasting legacy. And while James is incredibly serious regarding his craft and body, he is just as funny and goofy off the court, even combining these two sides of his personality every once in a while.

James had a habit of posting entertaining videos to his Instagram talking about ‘Taco Tuesday’. LeBron has always been held up as an example of someone that takes his health and conditioning very seriously, so his Taco Tuesday bit was quite fun to watch. And 3 years ago, he tried to trademark the term ‘Taco Tuesday’ for podcasts, an application that was eventually rejected although seemingly served its purpose (via ESPN).

“The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday refused the application filed by James’ company LBJ Trademarks, explaining that ‘Taco Tuesday’ is ‘a commonplace term.’

“‘The applied-for mark is a commonplace term, message, or expression widely used by a variety of sources that merely conveys an ordinary, familiar, well-recognized concept or sentiment message,’ the USPTO wrote.

“A spokesman for James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that the application was filed ‘to ensure LeBron cannot be sued for any use of Taco Tuesday.'”

It has been 3 years since this fact, and the entire episode came up again on Reddit thanks to it, drawing a fair bit of attention from NBA fans.

NBA Fans Roasted LeBron James For Failing To Trademark ‘Taco Tuesday’ Back In 2019

LeBron James, being who he means that there is never a shortage of fans wanting to ridicule him. The Taco Tuesday thing isn’t that big a deal, by accounts, LeBron achieved what he wanted to, but it didn’t stop fans on Reddit from taking shots at the King.

“Bro never ate a taco again.”

“Bron was a fool for trying to trademark that.”

“That was 3 years ago? It felt like that was last offseason!! Damn.”

“People been saying Taco Tuesday since they killed Christ lmao Bron so out of touch with reality.”

“3 years later hes trying to get a college lacrosse scholarship.”

“I miss taco Bron.”

“Did Bron just stop eating tacos after that?”

“I swear I ain’t seen him say anything about tacos since.”

“This was so funny and out of touch.”

“Taco Tuesday! Oh it’s already a thing? I guess I’ll just do Space Jam then. Oh that’s a thing too?”

“That was cringe from Bron ngl.”

LeBron James doing anything can turn into news. It’s a testament to his popularity and clout. The King is simply one of the most popular humans on the planet, and getting roasted for mundane stuff comes with the territory. Ultimately though, few things have been as goofy and entertaining as LeBron’s Taco Tuesday videos, and fans wouldn’t mind seeing a couple of those once again.
