The Atlanta Hawks just watched the Portland Trail Blazers come to their home arena and beat them 127-113 in a battle between two likely lottery teams. While Deni Avdija put on a show, Hawks fans didn’t love watching their franchise get beaten at home with Trae Young on the court. But it was much worse for a specific fan.
During a halftime game called ‘Tic-Tac-Toe,’ two Hawks fans were pitted against each other. One of the fans would slip on the court while attempting the first layup of the game, crashing to the ground and grabbing his knee.

This was a freak accident and is arguably one of the most bizarre clips of the season. Fans believe he suffered an ACL tear after he slipped, but they’re undecided on if it’s okay to laugh at this situation.
“Ain’t no way bro,” said one fan in complete disbelief.
“Being an Atlanta sports fan is a curse,” said one fan, chalking it up to being the normal life for an Atlanta sports fan.
“Noooo, they did my man’s dirty. Why the cameraman follow him to the ground?” said another fan.
“Bro, did he slip on a wet spot?? That’s easy money,” were one fan’s thoughts, assuming the fan can sue the franchise for a payout.
“That ain’t funny. He got hurt. Why is it funny when he got hurt, but it isn’t funny to laugh at professionals when they get hurt?” said one fan criticizing others for making fun of the injured fan.
“I feel bad for that dude, but I think he just became a meme. Hope he has a quick recovery, but the internet doesn’t forget,” said another fan who feels for the fan suffering this injury while also being mocked on the internet.
Mocking the fan is not right, but it is, unfortunately, a very notable clip that’s going viral. You don’t see fans suffering ACL tears during NBA games, so the novelty of this situation was bound to cause virality.
Those fans might have seen a game between two teams with little to compete for over the second half of this game, but they did get decent action.
Their home team was led by Trae Young’s 29 points (7-20 FG) and 15 assists, while Dyson Daniels had 22 points (11-13 FG), 10 rebounds, and three steals. Nobody else had a notable game, with Onyeka Okongwu putting up 12 points (4-8 FG) and six rebounds. Vit Krejci came off the bench for 13 points (5-7 FG) and seven rebounds.
Deni Avdija was the star man of the night, putting up 32 points (11-21 FG), 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Shaedon Sharpe led the team in scoring with 33 points (11-25 FG) and 10 rebounds. Toumani Camara had 18 points (8-10 FG), while rookie center Donovan Clingan put up 11 points (4-7 FG), seven rebounds, and five assists.
