Fans always love to hear stories about their favorite NBA players. Be it on or off the court, it’s always great to hear them. But not all stories are good, we have to remember that NBA players are human as well, and things can go wrong for them as well.
The former NBA player once went through something similar in 2002. At the time, Rose was a member of the Chicago Bulls. We are referring to the incident when Rose barely escaped a shooting incident when he was in the car with one of his friends.
The two were in Los Angeles and were coming back after enjoying themselves at a club. It was then that someone started shooting at them, and it led to adrenaline taking over Jalen Rose.
He decided to push the gas pedal as fast as he could and drove away. While the shooter aimed a few shots at the car, they all missed Rose. At that time, Rose thought that he and his friend had survived the incident.
Well, that’s somewhat true. Rose might have come out of that incident without being injured, but his friend got shot.
Jalen Rose Narrates A Story About How A Miscommunication Almost Cost His Friend’s Life
Seeing a friend get shot with bullets can be a horrifying sight for anyone. Similar was the case for Rose. In a video where Rose explained the incident, he revealed he had a miscommunication with the 911 operator.
“He shot the car, not at, nine times. And I look over at my man bleeding crazy. I reached down, grab the phone, call 911. Please just tell me where the closest hospital is. My dog just got shot. So I take the directions that 911 gives me. Sends me to a veterinarian.”
This story proves that being careful with your words is extremely important in emergencies. It was quite literally a matter of life or death for Rose’s friend.
While Rose’s friend survived the incident, the shooter was never caught. Moreover, it’s unclear to this day why the person decided to commit the crime. It seems like we will never find out.
