The Chicago Bulls had been looking for a superstar for quite some time. Last season, they seemingly found one when DeMar DeRozan proved that he was still far from done in his NBA career.

After leaving the Toronto Raptors, DeRozan’s career took a hit as he played like a shell of himself. He never looked comfortable when he was playing for the San Antonio Spurs.

So when the Bulls decided to sign him, they were criticized a lot by the media as they labeled DeRozan as one of the worst signings of the offseason.

The popular website Bleacher Report, in particular, was very critical of the Bulls’ decision to trust DeRozan.

Via Bleacher Report:

The gap between any two spots on these rankings might be the widest at the top. Look past DeRozan’s per-game production (21.6 points and 6.9 assists), and you’ll see a 32-year-old who’s a poor fit with his new club and limited in worrisome ways for someone aging past his prime.

He has never been a great (or even good) defender, and that deficiency won’t get better with time (or while playing alongside similar sieves in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic). DeRozan’s growth as a playmaker won’t be easily utilized in Chicago, as LaVine, Vucevic and Lonzo Ball all need significant touches. Moving DeRozan off the ball only highlights his limited shooting range (career 28.1 percent from three) and shrinks the floor.

This is just a short excerpt from a 2021 report published by B/R where they labeled him as the worst signing of the season.

Bleacher Report Once Again Disrespects DeRozan, The Bulls Star Claps Back

After the 2021-22 NBA season, it seems abundantly clear that the B/R report was pretty wrong. If anything, DeRozan was one of the best signings of the season.

Despite this, the popular website published another article recently where they called DeRozan one of the most overrated players of the last 10 years.

Via Bleacher Report:

DeMar DeRozan is a great basketball player, even by NBA standards. You don’t make five All-Star teams and average more than 20 points for a decade-plus without having a ton of skill.

DeRozan’s more well-rounded play since he joined the San Antonio Spurs in 2018 better reflects the reputation he’s built over the years. But for much of the last 10 years, inefficiency, lack of defense and an unwillingness to adapt to the ongoing three-point revolution adversely affected his impact.

It looks like this article reached DeMar, and he decided to call out the website with a common GTA San Andreas meme.

DeMar DeRozan has been one of the most consistent players of the last 10 years. Apart from his stint with the Spurs, the 33-year-old has done pretty well.

Additionally, coming off a breakout 2021-22 NBA season, the Bulls star is soaring with confidence. He will try his best to lead the Bulls to an NBA Championship next season after failing to accomplish that last season.
