NBA Rumors: Mavericks And Cavaliers Have Had Talks About Collin Sexton Sign-And-Trade

Collin Sexton is a restricted free agent that is still on the market, and he is well-known for being a solid scoring guard. While he was injured for the majority of the 2021-22 season, he had a very stellar 2020-21 season, averaging 24.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 4.4 APG while shooting 37.1% from beyond the arc.

There is no doubt that Collin Sexton could help a lot of teams who need scoring next to their primary stars. He projects to be a solid 2nd option that can play off another good playmaker.

It seems as though the Dallas Mavericks are a team that believes Collin Sexton could be a good fit for them. Cavaliers insider Chris Fedor revealed that the Cavaliers and Mavericks have had some conversations about a sign-and-trade arrangement regarding Collin Sexton. Still, the complication lies in the fact that the Mavericks don’t have anything that the Cavaliers would be interested in a sign-and-trade. (32:42)

“The Cavs have had conversations with Dallas about a sign-and-trade for Collin Sexton. But if you’re talking about a sign-and-trade, the Cavs need something back that is going to be valuable to them. And neither the Jazz nor the Mavericks have the pieces that the Cavs would want back in a sign and trade for Collin.

It remains to be seen if the two teams will come to an agreement regarding Collin Sexton in the future. The Dallas Mavericks are clearly trying to improve their team around Luka Doncic, and they notably acquired sharpshooting big man Christian Wood from the Houston Rockets earlier in the offseason.

Collin Sexton could potentially take some of the offensive load away from Luka Doncic if he were to move to the Dallas Mavericks. He would be a good fit for the franchise, and hopefully, the Mavericks will find a way to get things done.
