Mavericks CEO Makes Promise To Fans – Will Bring A Title To Dallas To Earn Back Lost Trust

Dallas Mavericks CEO Rick Welts has made a promise to regain the trust of the still-devastated fanbase after a horrible two months.

The Dallas Mavericks have intentionally alienated their fan base over a string of moves and comments, starting with the decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, it’s been hell in Mavs land as they saw almost their entire roster go down with injury and lose Kyrie Irving for this season and most of the next. At the same time, they’re also watching Doncic lead the Lakers to a top-four seed.

The front office is still trying to gaslight their fans into accepting the Doncic trade as a ‘good’ move. This was evident through Mavs CEO Rick Welts’s comments during the team’s one-sided 128-113 road loss to the New York Knicks.

“Time, wins, and losses will tell whether it was a good or bad deal. I’m gonna promise to our fans right now whatever trust we’ve lost…we’re gonna earn it back because we’re gonna do this the right way and win championships.”

Ah yes. Welts is trying to say he will regain the trust of the fanbase, but he didn’t even have the stomach to make these comments in front of Mavs fans. Welts made these comments at a Knicks home game, reinforcing the fact that most Mavs front-office members are terrified to show their face in their home arena or even around the city.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison is being mocked and ridiculed by fans every time he’s visible in public, with everyone wanting him gone from his role. Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont became a laughing stock because of his clear lack of basketball knowledge when he lamented that Luka Doncic doesn’t share the same work ethic as Shaquille O’Neal.

This is an organization full of suits who don’t want to acknowledge the ground reality of what their decisions have caused. It’s cute to pretend to contend with a supposed veteran win-now group like the Mavs have right now, but at no point will anyone view Dallas as legitimate contenders due to the age and injury-proneness of their roster. Also, Kyrie Irving tore his ACL at 33 years old, so he won’t be the same either.

Welts, Harrison, Dumont, and everyone else who sanctioned this trade will see how this trade has irrevocably hurt their franchise. If the Lakers win a title with Doncic, it will cement this as arguably the worst trade in NBA history.

Hopefully, Mavericks fans can once again have a front office that understands the value of loyalty like the ones in years past did.
