NBA Rumors: Donovan Mitchell Could Create A Terrific Duo With Ja Morant On Grizzlies

The Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks rumors have slowed down in recent weeks, as the New Yorkers might be reflecting on the pros and cons of giving a host of draft picks for a player they’ve been dreaming of for a while now. This has opened the door for more teams to try to make a move for Mitchell.

The Utah Jazz are reportedly ready to part ways with the young shooting guard after trading Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, just like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Mitchell is staying in Utah.

Well, that could change soon if a proposed trade comes to fruition. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report writes that Spida could be the player that improves the Memphis Grizzlies’ roster this offseason. The best part of it is that they would keep their core and add two players to compete to win the West.

The Trade: Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, Danny Green, Ziaire Williams, Brandon Clarke and three future first-round picks to Jazz for Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic

It’s been a relatively quiet offseason on Beale Street, but Memphis has the trade chips to take its summer from zero to 100 in an instant.

Now, the Grizzlies might label a major move unnecessary after their young core just secured the Western Conference’s No. 2 seed, but they still have a solo star on the roster (Ja Morant) and no obvious candidates to become a second. Maybe Jaren Jackson Jr. or Desmond Bane could make that leap, but there are no guarantees with either.

If the Grizzlies wanted to fast-track their ascension to top-tier contenders, this trade would do it. Morant would suddenly have a certified star alongside him in Mitchell, plus an extra shot-creator for the wing in Bogdanovic. Even better, Memphis would be adding a star without breaking up the Morant-Jackson-Bane trio.

Adding Mitchell would bring many benefits to the Grizzlies. They would pair Ja Morant with another All-Star, having a better shot at the NBA championship. Separated, they are great but imagine how explosive this duo would be together.

Still, this is only an idea, and it’s unclear if the Grizzlies are keeping tabs on the Mitchell situation in Utah. If the Knicks decide to not make this move, then other organizations will try to get some benefit here, but right now, this is pure speculation.
