The Golden State Warriors dynasty began when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green reached stardom. The three superstars slowly but surely developed into reliable players who started to turn the fortune of the Warriors during the mid-2010s.

Curry and Thompson formed a formidable offensive duo, while Green took care of the business on the defensive end of the floor. Fast forward to 2022, and the incredible trio has helped the franchise win four NBA Championships in six NBA Finals.

The Warriors probably wouldn’t have been as successful as they are, even if one of the three stars was not present on the roster. Keeping that in mind, it’s not surprising that Draymond Green has asked the Warriors to give him a max contract extension.

Green will be eligible to sign a 4-year extension on August 03, 2022. But as of now, the reports suggest that the Warriors aren’t interested in giving Green a max contract. After all, Green is starting to decline.

Despite that, the Warriors might have to sign him to a max contract. The reason is that if the Dubs let go of Green due to money, it would upset Stephen Curry. This has obviously put the Warriors in a dilemma. But the biggest question remains: Does Green deserve a max contract?

This is a blazing hot topic of discussion on the internet right now. Obviously, a plethora of fans joined in to share their views about it. Here’s a general idea of what fans think about Green getting a 4-year max contract.

People that watch basketball will say yes. Casuals will say no. He’s a top 25 player in basketball and without Dray the warriors probably aren’t even making the WC semis let alone WCF

Name another active player who contributed to 4 championships to their organization in a 10 year span? The same team that drafted him btw, he’s worth the 138.4 mill … he is the glue to that team without him I don’t know if any of those chips were possible , realistically

In the 10 years Dray has been at GSW the value of the team has gone up by 5 BILLION DOLLARS!!
Don't get it twisted. It's not all about your stat sheet. Dray is a big reason the fans are packing the stands. Not the only reason but still a huge contributor to that team valuation!

For specifically the Warriors, yes. Mostly any other team, hell no.

At this stage of his career he is just PJ Tucker without the shooting capabilities and PJ just got paid $12mil a year. Draymond is not worth no $35 mil a year 😂

Nope no team would pay him that

No, but he’s so important to your team that you gotta give it to him

Most fans believe that Green should get that contract. But it’s not because he’s worth that much money, but because he is specifically super important to the Golden State Warriors.

Green is the glue that holds the Warriors together, and making him unhappy can have an adverse effect on the rest of the team. It’s too big of a risk for a team that will defend the NBA Championship this season.
