Kevin Durant remains one of the best players in the NBA despite turning 34 years old soon. He proved that in the 2021-22 NBA season when he was healthy. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do the same come playoff time.
He was obviously frustrated with the Brooklyn Nets and it resulted in him asking for a trade. Since then, weeks have passed, but the Nets haven’t found the perfect trade offer for their superstar.
So is there any player that the Nets can find in return for Durant that can match his value? Well, NBA analyst Skip Bayless seems to believe that it’s none other than LeBron James. Bayless recently revealed that he believes if a KD for LBJ exchange happens it will make a lot of sense for both the Lakers and the Nets.
But Skip’s co-host Shannon Sharpe believes that is far from the truth. If anything, this trade idea is simply terrible.

“Kevin Durant, why would he want to go to LA and reunite with Russell Westbrook? When you said, five years ago, the reason why he left OKC was because of Russell Westbrook. LeBron, why would he want to go to the Nets? Yes, Kyrie’s there, and they had a great basketball relationship. He’s gonna leave one guy in Russell Westbrook who can’t shoot for another guy in Ben Simmons who’s afraid to shoot? That makes sense for LeBron? How?”
He continued, “When I look at it, I don’t think either guy would be happy with the trade. I don’t think Kevin Durant wants any part of playing in LA. With the scrutiny that comes along with being a superstar playing for the Lakers. And LeBron wants no part of playing in Brooklyn or any part of New York. It doesn’t make sense.
The salaries match up, and you’re not going to have to give up any other compensation. Other than the player swap. One player goes here; the other player goes there. When you look at it in its totality and what has transpired, it doesn’t make sense to me.”
Sharpe explained very well why this trade won’t make any sense for both teams. Logically, the Nets will be at a disadvantage if they go ahead with this superstar player swap.
LeBron would be nothing more than a rental player for the Nets if he has no intentions of playing in New York. He could simply leave the Nets when his contract expires after the 2022-23 NBA season.
