Jay Williams Says It’s No Big Deal That Ja Morant Thinks He Could Cook Michael Jordan: “I Know It’s ‘Black Jesus’… MJ Has Lost At Things Before.”

Ja Morant is one of the most explosive athletes in today’s NBA, a prolific scorer, and a budding superstar in the league. While most fans can’t help but love Ja’s game, a number of them have taken issue at times with the things he says. One such comment that he made involves Michael Jordan, with Morant saying he would have ‘cooked’ Jordan.

Understandably, since Jordan is hailed as the GOAT by most people, many fans took exception to Ja’s take, with fans roasting him on social media for it. Even Skip Bayless called him out, hilariously saying Ja would ‘cook for Jordan’, not cook him. And comparing Jordan’s 3rd season in the NBA with Ja’s, it’s easy to see why several people took issue with what he said.

But Jay Williams has come to the Grizzlies star’s defense, suggesting that it has been made a bigger deal than it needs to be.

“So what, Ja Morant thinks he can beat Michael Jordan, why do people get so crazy about this? And I know, it’s Black Jesus, I get it, I get MJ. MJ has lost at things before. If we’re doing a 1-on-1 challenge… It’s possible, it’s possible.

“People want to overreact and think that, ‘uh that can never happen because that’s Michael Jordan, not the Michael, no. Michael could never lose a game of 1-on-1.’ God forbid Mike lose one game to six points, 6 to 5, like, alright, so what? I don’t understand why this is such a big thing.”

While what Ja said may seem blasphemous to some, Williams’ commentary on it isn’t exactly wrong, either. A fair few players got the better of Michael Jordan. AI legendarily crossed him up once. While his status as the GOAT is not even remotely in dispute, it isn’t wild to think that a young NBA superstar may think that he would have been able to beat MJ in certain situations.
