Back in January 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers and the entire world were given shocking news. NBA and Lakers legend Kobe Bryant tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash.
This news shocked everyone to their core. Kobe’s impact on the NBA was a lot, and there is a good chance that you became a fan of the Lakers after watching Kobe give his heart and soul to the franchise for 20 years.
Since Kobe spent his entire career with the legendary franchise, it is quite understandable that even the owners of the team have him in their highest regard. Even though the Black Mamba retired from the NBA in 2016, he was still close to Jeanie Buss and occasionally helped her out in making crucial decisions for the franchise.
It seems like Buss is certainly missing that output from Kobe, as she recently posted a cryptic message about Kobe being the greatest Laker ever and having a team-first mentality.
I miss KB. He would understand and explain everything that I’m not allowed to. Honestly he was the greatest Laker ever. He understood team over self. Meaning your rewards would come if you valued team goals over your own then everything would fall into place. All can reply.

Apart from being a heartfelt message to the late Kobe Bryant, it also felt like the Lakers owner also took a shot at her team.
Most believe it came in light of the Lakers actively pursuing a trade for Kyrie Irving. Of course, that would mean the team using Russell Westbrook in a package for Irving.
Now, it might seem strange since the Lakers traded for Westbrook last season. Unfortunately, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations of the franchise and will be considered a burden more than anything if he plays for the Purple and Gold this season.
