The Golden State Warriors were one of the last teams prior to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 to visit the White House after winning the NBA Championship in 2015. The annual tradition of the NBA Champions being treated to a dinner by the incumbent President of the United States was discontinued by former President Donald Trump, but was brought back by current President Joe Biden.
The Warriors will be making their way to Washington for this sometime this off-season, but a former President has already spoken to Stephen Curry about his championship triumph. That President was none other than Barack Obama, a lifelong basketball fan.
Obama has made appearances on basketball shows like ‘Call Me Magic’ and ‘The Last Dance’, but shares a relationship with a contemporary star like Curry. The pair had a phone conversation while Curry was still on the court after winning the title, with Obama allegedly instigating Curry to say something inappropriate on TV.
"I wish I could say that on TV" 😂

This was a great moment, and it was wonderful to see a former President reach out to Curry and give him the praise he deserves after he won the title. There is a whole summer worth of flowers to accept for Curry, including some from the incumbent President whenever the Warriors go over to the White House.
This also proves the magnitude of Curry in the real world. He isn’t just a basketball player, but a genuine influencer in this world. People like Obama recognize the appeal and control that Steph has over the world and over his fans.
Aside from that, Obama is a massive basketball fan and just did what any basketball superfan with Steph Curry’s number would do. Call him and congratulate him for an extremely hard-fought NBA Championship. Even if you’re on the court in the middle of your title celebration, nobody wants to miss a call from a former President, Curry included.
