Former NBA player Michael Beasley is returning to high-level competitions after his last stint in the Summer League. The former Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat player is now taking off to join a different league to keep playing pro ball. Beasley, one of the most exciting No. 2 overall picks in recent years, has struggled to find a new opportunity in the NBA and now is headed to China.

When people joked about Ben Simmons going to the Chinese Basketball Association, Beasley is the one taking that route, hoping to have a similar impact as Stephon Marbury in the Asian country.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Beasley is signing a seven-figure deal to join the Shanghai Sharks of the CBA. This could be a huge opportunity for him, not to return to the NBA but to create something meaningful in the world of basketball.

Sources: Former NBA No. 2 pick Michael Beasley is returning to professional basketball and will sign a seven-figure deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Beasley last played for the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2021 Summer League, but he didn’t make the cut. He has been wandering around the association in recent times, not able to secure a long-term deal despite playing for big franchises.

Now he’s ready to take on a new challenge and it’ll be interesting to see how this situation develops for him. Michael has the talent and perhaps a change of air could be the key for him to relaunch his career.
