A 1-on-1 match between legendary players is something that is awesome to speculate about. There’s no doubt that a lot of us would love to see that if it were possible to have players from different eras face off against one another.

Generally, when we think of players playing one-on-one, we think of offensive players. However, a matchup between two legendary defensive players could be interesting as well.

Kevin Durant has recently posted a graphic from Bleacher Report on Twitter, with the graphic featuring a hypothetical 1-on-1 matchup between Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green. Kevin Durant joked about the hypothetical game, claiming that it’d take the duo 6 days to finish their match.

Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green are both elite defenders that have won multiple titles and contributed to dynasties. When you combine their defensive prowess with the fact that neither is known for scoring, it is easy to see why Kevin Durant thinks that their match would take a long time.

Though the two have slightly different playstyles on the defensive end, Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green have been likened to one another. Charles Barkley once pointed out that they’d both be fun to play with, but be “annoying as f*ck” to play against.

You remind me a lot of Dennis Rodman. Like, I want to play with you, you would be annoying as f*ck to play against… He’s somebody I really like a lot, and respect, you’re the same way.

When talking about winning rings, the phrase “defense wins championships” is often mentioned. It is true that most championship teams have defenders that do the dirty work on the court, and Draymond Green and Dennis Rodman have both excelled in that role.

Hopefully, we get to see some more 1-on-1 matches get coverage from the media in the future. There’s no doubt that it’s a fun way to play basketball, even if it will never be the same as playing a full 5-on-5 game.
