Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the world. The point guard is a versatile offensive player, capable of creating his own shot effectively against any defender, while also being able to make plays for others. Luka Doncic has had a good playoff run so far, even though he has missed a little bit of time with an injury. Currently, Luka Doncic is putting up 29.0 PPG, 10.7 RPG, and 5.7 APG in the postseason.

Until this year, Luka Doncic was unable to win a playoff series. That obviously changed with the Dallas Mavericks eliminating the Utah Jazz in the first round. Recently, Luka Doncic has expressed excitement about advancing in the playoffs, claiming that the NBA championship is the “best trophy” one can win in the playoffs.

Luka Dončić on advancing in the NBA playoffs: “I’m excited. You can be world champion, that's the best trophy you can have in basketball. I am very excited… A lot of people said we couldn’t win, I was always confident that we were going to win.”

“I’m excited. You can be world champion, that’s the best trophy you can have in basketball. I am very excited… A lot of people said we couldn’t win, I was always confident that we were going to win.”

Even though he clearly values winning an NBA championship, Luka Doncic once claimed that he’d value winning a gold medal with Slovenia more, but quickly added that he “wouldn’t mind both”.

I’d say gold medal with Slovenia. You play for your country and that’s something… but I wouldn’t mind both.”

The Dallas Mavericks definitely have an uphill fight in their second-round matchup against the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have an elite backcourt, a top-tier big man, and a lot of good role players. However, they are missing a true superstar-caliber player, which Luka Doncic is. Most people would agree that the Suns are the more talented team, but would also agree that Luka Doncic is the best player in the series.

It remains to be seen if Luka Doncic is able to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a series win against the Phoenix Suns. While that seems unlikely currently, when one has a player of Doncic’s level on the roster, anything is possible.
