The Minnesota Timberwolves’ first-round series with the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the most entertaining so far. Both teams are extremely hardworking on the defensive end of the court and seem very evenly matched. As a result, fans have gotten to experience an extremely gritty series. But one video has gone viral which has made the suggestion that Karl-Anthony Towns could be using some underhanded tactics.

In the video shared by Warren Sharp, Karl-Anthony Towns can be seen setting multiple screens to stop Ja Morant. As part of the screens, Towns would seemingly stick his knee out a little further to try and trip and drop Ja Morant. He missed the first time, but made contact with Morant the second time, causing Ja to fall. Luckily, Ja was able to avoid any injury, but the video doesn’t show KAT in a good light.

There is no way to prove that Karl-Anthony Towns was intentionally sticking his knee out to get in Ja’s way. But some fans believe that Towns did not have the best intentions, trying to stop Morant using some underhanded tactics. One has to wonder why Towns would try to get Morant out of the way while they were on the offense, and Morant hasn’t evolved into a lockdown defender as of yet.

Some fans might suggest that Towns’ intentions were far more cynical. Rather than trying to take Morant out for the possession, fans might suggest that Karl-Anthony Towns was looking to hurt Morant and potentially take him out of the series. Once again, there is no way to ascertain whether that is what Towns was trying to do, but the videos shown above don’t shine KAT in the best light and will cause a lot of backlash against him, whether it is warranted or not.
