Kyrie Irving played his first game at Madison Square Garden this season, now that the New York vaccine mandate has been lifted, allowing him to play games in New York without getting vaccinated. The Nets didn’t have a good first half, and as they were going into the tunnel, Kyrie Irving thought he heard a fan trying to heckle him, and confronted him for it.

Kyrie Irving spoke after the game about the altercation. Irving noted that his reaction was because of frustrations from his performance in the first half. Irving also added that he made a mistake, as the fan he confronted was not the one who was trying to heckle him, and it was just a mistake in the heat of the moment.

Kyrie Irving spoke about this fan interaction. He said a fan said something to him and he was already fed up with the first half performance, which made him react.

Irving apologized, stating he believes he approached the wrong fan. https://t.co/DZ8bNPNR2Y

Irving and the Nets had a much better performance in the second half. Irving, along with Kevin Durant, were able to defeat the New York Knicks and move one step closer to securing the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. Their next game will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who currently sit above the Nets in 7th. Defeating the Cavs will allow the Nets to have home court in their play-in game next week.

The Nets are considered a strong team in the playoffs. Despite having a low seed, the Nets have enough talent on their roster to match up with some of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Given the talent, they have on their roster, they can match up with any other team in the playoffs.

Durant and Irving will be relied upon heavily over this playoff run, as the Nets are still waiting for Ben Simmons to regain fitness and rejoin the team. But if Simmons returns during the playoffs, the Nets will feel confident about their chances to win the NBA championship.
