The Sacramento Kings have been a rebuilding franchise for quite some time. Despite a variety of promising players spending time in Sacramento, they simply haven’t been able to get back to being a playoff team.
As of today, the Sacramento Kings have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. This makes it 16 straight seasons without a postseason appearance for the team, the longest streak in NBA history.

There is no doubt that the Sacramento Kings have been very underwhelming. However, things are definitely looking better in terms of next season. The Sacramento Kings traded for All-Star Domantas Sabonis at the trade deadline, in an attempt to make a win-now move. The All-Star has already stated that the goal is to “fight for this franchise”, so it’s clear that Domantas Sabonis is trying to change the culture in Sacramento.
“Just gotta go out there and have fun, you know. The fans were amazing, the energy of the team, it’s gonna be a lot of fun… It’s crazy, just talking about it now, I have goosebumps, you know. The welcome here is crazy. I appreciate all the love, we’re going to come here and fight for this team, fight for this franchise, that’s the goal, man. We’re gonna come out here and get wins.”
While the team hasn’t been able to do much this season in terms of competing for the playoffs, they will likely be better next season. They have a solid duo featuring De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, as well as good supplementary players such as Davion Mitchell and Harrison Barnes.
Hopefully, we see the Sacramento Kings get back to contention sooner rather than later. It would be good to see them make it back to the postseason, and there’s no doubt that it will be a fantastic moment for their fans when they finally do so.
