Last night was a historic one for fans and members of the Boston Celtics. Ahead of the Celtics game against the Dallas Mavericks, the Boston Celtics one of the most legendary players to play for the franchise in recent memory, as they retired the jersey of Kevin Garnett.

Garnett only played in Boston for 6 years. But within his first season, he, along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, were able to transform the Celtics and lead them to their first NBA championship in over 2 decades. What Garnett and the 07-08 Celtics were able to achieve was truly legendary.

After the retirement ceremony, one that was filled with many memorable moments, which also marked the first proper reunion of the 2008 NBA champions Boston Celtics squad after Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett squashed their beef, the Celtics took on the Dallas Mavericks.

The Celtics had been in great form coming into the game, and one moment was so spectacular that it made all 3 Celtics legends sitting courtside get up and take notice.

During the game, Jaylen Brown made an incredible move to the basket and posterized Maxi Kleber with a ferocious dunk. All three players were clearly impressed but expressed it in different ways. Ray Allen couldn’t help but applaud, whereas Paul Pierce was shocked to see what had happened. As for KG, he was enthusiastic and celebrated with the fans, even giving Brown a high-five.

Despite all the festivities, it was a disappointing night for the Celtics, as they lost a close game to the Mavericks by 3 points. Much like Paul Pierce’s jersey retirement, Kevin Garnett’s special night ended in a loss for his former team.

The Celtics won’t harp on the loss for too long. Over the last few months, the Celtics have drastically improved, and become one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. We are starting to see the young duo of Tatum and Brown come together to form an impressive 1-2 punch combination for the Celtics.
