The New Orleans Pelicans the Los Angeles Lakers are currently locked in a battle as they try to get the best possible seeding they can in the Western Conference. Both teams look destined to be among the final play-in spots but while the Pelicans might have seen this coming, the Lakers are punching well below their weight in this situation.

And the punches keep on coming for LA, they lost to the Pelicans in emphatic fashion, losing every single quarter convincingly except the 4th. A 19-point difference between the Pelicans and them in the 3rd quarter was enough to make it a blowout, and the Lakers looked lost from top to bottom, as perhaps evidenced by the reaction of their coach during the final minutes.

The Pelicans have gotten significantly better since acquiring CJ McCollum in a trade and the feeling around the franchise seems to have gotten more positive despite the fiasco with Zion not communicating properly with the new star. In any case, they weren’t going to miss an opportunity to make fun of the Lakers, and as shared by ClutchPoints, the Pelicans’ official Twitter account trolled their rivals by changing the Twitter bio.

“Beat the Lakers by 28 in LA. See ya Wednesday at the Smoothie King Center.”

The Pelicans are just over 2 games behind the Lakers now, who have shown no signs of picking up their form, and New Orleans will be hoping they can make it into the 9th seed and overtake the Lakers powered by their new acquisition in McCollum. To further that cause, they will have to beat the Sacramento Kings at home on Wednesday night.

The Lakers, in the meanwhile, have to face an in-form Dallas Mavericks team that they will find quite hard to beat on Tuesday night. Luka Doncic has been on fire since he was snubbed as an All-Star starter and the Dallas defense has been stellar during the campaign. If the Lakers want to stop getting trolled by other teams though, the only way to make that happen is stringing together some wins.
