The 2022 MVP race is hotter than ever, with several players placing a bid to win the coveted award this campaign. Besides Giannis Antetokounmpo, who leads the latest NBA’s MVP ladder, players like Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and more, are trying to take the prize home.

Everybody has a favorite candidate for this award, including Magic Johnson, Kevin Garnett, and Charles Barkley. Moreover, a former head coach has an interesting list that made a lot of noise on social media.

Stan Van Gundy is very active on Twitter and doesn’t hesitate to share his opinion with fans. On Friday, the former New Orleans Pelicans head coach gave his two pennies on the MVP race, placing the reigning Most Valuable Player at 1st position, followed by LeBron James, who has thrived with the Lakers in recent weeks.

My top 5 in the MVP race, at mid-season, in order, Jokic, James, Durant, Antetokounmpo, Embiid. Lot of good candidates this year, more than just these 5.

Of course, this wouldn’t go unnoticed and fans had several questions for Van Gundy. Given the number of players who have actual chances to win the prize, which makes it hard to put them all in a top 5, some snubs happened. Stephen Curry, Ja Morant, and DeMar DeRozan didn’t make the cut for SVG, who responded to every question fans had.

This season, the MVP race has plenty of participants. All these players are having outstanding seasons, some surprising the league because nobody thought they would be this good, yet they are, competing for the most important award in the association.

Van Gundy has solid points to pick these players in these orders, but he won’t please everybody with his calls. This is the good thing about these debates; you can see things differently than the rest of the people and it’s cool that at this point of the season, fans are having passionate arguments about who the most valuable player is.

Everything can change in a couple of weeks, and we won’t know who has the biggest chances to win the trophy until the end of the regular season.
