Kendrick Perkins Believes The Los Angeles Lakers Should Trade Russell Westbrook

Silver Screen and Roll

Russell Westbrook has had a solid enough season as the No. 3 option for the Los Angeles Lakers on an individual level. Russell Westbrook is currently averaging 19.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG, and 8.0 APG.

Despite some great individual performances from Russell Westbrook, the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t found their groove and have been inconsistent all season. They are currently 16-17 and are 6th in the Western Conference.

Kendrick Perkins has recently claimed that the Los Angeles Lakers should trade Russell Westbrook and break up their star trio. However, Perkins stated that he “wasn’t sure” if that was going to happen due to Russell Westbrook’s massive contract.

Anthony Davis isn’t going anywhere, he has a no-trade clause. We know LeBron James is not going anywhere. The person that they probably could move or should move. I don’t know if it’s going to happen because of his contract.

It is obvious that having a top-heavy roster hasn’t been good for the Los Angeles Lakers, and their roster just hasn’t gelled together. With that being said, there is definitely a lot of talent on the roster, and if they manage to figure out how to play next to one another and get healthy, it is possible that the Lakers will make a run.

Even though there is a possibility that the Los Angeles Lakers will manage to go on a winning streak, a trade could also be the right move. The Los Angeles Lakers’ defense hasn’t been great this year, and perhaps a trade could solve that issue. Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers were linked with two athletic defenders in Jerami Grant and Ben Simmons.

We’ll see what course of action the Lakers end up taking in the coming weeks. Something has to change from their current formula, as they just haven’t looked like a contender. Hopefully, we see them improve going forward.
