As one of the greatest prospects in NBA history, Victor Wembanyama is already a national sensation. A 7’2″ center with range and shot-blocking abilities, he is the kind of young player teams have been dreaming of for years now.

And while it’s still too early to say where Wemby will land in the upcoming draft, U.S. Actor Michael Douglas seems to want the Heat to make a run for him.

During a chat with the media during a game for the LNB French league, the actor revealed his thoughts on the basketball phenom.

“He moves beautifully,” Douglas said. “… I wish him the best. I don’t think they have a chance,” said Douglas regarding the Heat after revealing he’s a Heat fan. “I told Victor, ‘You should go to Florida.’”

Douglas, 78, is an award-winning actor best known for his roles in ‘The American President’, ‘Wall Street’, and ‘War of the Roses,’ is also apparently a Heat fan who thinks it’s time to blow it up. But is that really the right call to make?

Should Miami Tank For Victor Wembanyama?

Most Heat fans will scoff at the mere mention of tanking, but it’s something the team must consider at this point in their timeline. With their core players getting older, and the roster not nearly deep enough to make up for it, it’s no wonder that the Heat haven’t been competitive this season at just 12-15.

And since they are not competing for a title, why should they not go all-in on trying to acquire the best prospect in basketball history?

“He’s the greatest prospect in the history of basketball for the NBA. It’s not even close,” said Channing Frye. “There has never been a created player by God, whatever God you believe in or none at all, that has come from the heavens, that has made a player that No. 1, his teammates love and appreciate. When he falls on the ground, they run and go get him. He’s a good kid. He’s personable. He’s not injury-prone at that size, and he is an absolute dog on the defensive end.”

Webanyama is the perfect package, and he’s everything you could want in a player. If he lives up to the hype, this is a guy who could drastically alter the NBA’s balance of power for years to come.

The Miami Heat, or any other team in the gutter this season, would be foolish to pass up the opportunity to sign him on their squad.
