Amar’e Stoudemire, a 6x NBA All-Star, is years removed from his final season in the NBA. At 40 years old, Amar’e has made the transition to the NBA media world and has been seen on various ESPN shows giving his take on the current NBA season.

Unfortunately for the former Knick, he’s in some serious trouble now after reportedly getting arrested and charged with his daughter’s assault.

JUST IN: Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested in Miami on Saturday just hours after graduating with a master’s degree.

Stoudemire, charged with battery, allegedly told cops his daughter “received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a liar,” sources say.

More: Stoudemire allegedly punched his daughter in the jaw and slapped her several times after “giving attitude,” according to a law-enforcement source. Police say they saw blood stains.

Stoudemire Gives His Side Of The Story In Revealing Statement

The full details of the situation have yet to come to light, but it’s clear that something happened with the Stoudemire family this weekend.

On Twitter, Amar’e himself was forced to issue a statement, sending the following message in an attempt to mitigate the damage.

“Over the last 24 hours an incident at my family home led to my being charged with assaulting my daughter. It is an allegation based on a report that does not square with the facts. I am of the Jewish faith, today Jewish people all over the world celebrate Hanukkah and hear the story of how we fought wickedness. I believe that ‘whatever is hateful to you, do not do to others.’ As the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allegations to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is nearly 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, particularly my children. As a father, I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy.”

It’s certainly a bad look for Amar’e, but the situation is still being played out. If Stoudemire is right, and he did nothing wrong, it should be too much longer before his name is cleared.

But if this situation becomes something more, it probably won’t end well for the former NBA All-Star, who now joins Kyrie Irving and former Celtics coach Ime Udoka as the biggest troublemakers this season.
