Anonymous NBA Executive Suggests That Anthony Davis Could Be Traded For Zach LaVine

2 Min Read

Anthony Davis’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers should be a lock. At 29, AD is right in the middle of his prime in terms of age, but injuries have robbed him of the opportunity to maximize it. Already an NBA champion, Davis has established his legacy in the league, but questions are being asked about whether the franchise really can build around him after LeBron James moves on or retires.

And while most would agree that AD has earned another chance to prove he can stay fit, some believe the Lakers could or should trade him while they can. And Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney spoke to a Western Conference Executive who suggested that maybe a trade with Chicago involving Zach LaVine going the other way could be possible.

“The main way it would happen if it was going to happen was to get Davis somewhere he wants to go, and the main place he’d want to go is Chicago, where he’s from,” the executive told Deveney.

“Now, some guys do not want to play in their hometown but I think AD would welcome that, he spoke on that before. Doesn’t mean it would happen, they have not gone out and tried to trade him, but there could be something simple like Zach LaVine for AD, you get a pair of guys going to places they really want to be. It would have to wait until January but that would be the deal that makes the most sense if AD is going to change teams.”

The Lakers seem keen on keeping Davis around in the immediate future, though. Reports suggested that LeBron James and Darvin Ham are thinking of running the team’s offense through AD next season. When he’s healthy, Davis is an elite two-way player, an unstoppable force. All he needs to do to avoid more speculation of this nature is to stay on the court and ball out.
