NBA legend Dennis Rodman could play a big part in the Brittney Griner ongoing case in Russia. The WNBA star has been detained in the Eurasian country since February and recently was sentenced to 9 years in prison after being found guilty of drug charges.
This situation has raised many eyebrows not only in the NBA community but the entire American society. With divided opinions, everybody has kept tabs on this situation, trying to see what’s next for the talented center and her loved ones. Figures around the NBA and WNBA have raised their voices to support Griner, but so far, nothing has changed for her.
Even POTUS Joe Biden has tried to come up with a solution, but things haven’t worked out yet. That’s when Rodman makes his appearance, as he claims he has ‘permission’ to go to Russia and try to get Griner released once and for all.
Talking to NBC News on Saturday, Rodman revealed that he’s ready to go to the country to find a solution to Griner’s problems.
“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” Rodman told NBC News at a restaurant in D.C. “I’m trying to go this week.”
Dennis went to Russia in 2014 and had a good experience there, even praising president Vladimir Putin. He’s well known for doing things that not so many dare to do, like going to North Korea and becoming friends with Kim Jong-un, and it seems like he’s ready for the next challenge.
The Griner’s situation has become one of the hot topics in the basketball world, and nobody knows when it will end. Perhaps Rodman can bring the solution every party needs, and this week might be crucial for Brittney’s case.
