Anthony Davis On The Lakers’ Championships Odds: ‘Our Chances Got Higher… We’re All Rested’

The NBA suspension helped a lot of teams get some rest from the intense competition we were having. When the league suspended the season due to Rudy Gobert testing positive for COVID-19, we were entering the final stretch of the campaign, where players were tired and the games were getting more intense.

After four months of inactivity, every team in the league is ready to come back and start competing again like it’s a new season. Some teams recovered injured players, others simply got rest. Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers talked about the benefits of the NBA shutdown, stating that he’s ‘100% healthy’ and ready to go. Davis believes the Lakers’ chances to win the title got bigger after this layoff.

“I think our chances are higher because we’re all rested,” Davis said, via Lakers.com. “We’re all ready to go. If anything, our chances got higher, and it’s going to be about who wants it more. Everybody had a decompression of the season … it’s about which team wants it more and which team can stay healthy.”

Davis knew the team was playing a lot of games in a short time, so this time off will benefit them, especially knowing all the rest that other stars like Kawhi Leonard or Giannis Antetokounmpo had during the season.

“We were definitely hitting a mark where we were playing a lot of games in a lot of days, and trying to solidify that first place spot in the West and even overall,” Davis said. “We were playing a lot of games, a lot of minutes, and it’s been more about letting everything rest and heal on its own.”

The Lakers were playing the best basketball in the NBA at the time the coronavirus outbreak took place. Now they’ll try to find that rhythm again in Orlando.

The Lakers will restart the season against the Clippers next July 30.
