Anthony Davis On Why He’s Not Aggressive: “I Go Out There And I Think Too Much.”

2 Min Read

Anthony Davis is in the middle of the best stretch of his career, averaging 26 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on 50% shooting as the Lakers stand just two wins away from the NBA Finals.

But Davis’ dominance has many wondering why this level of play hasn’t always been so sustainable for him. Per the testimony of analysts, executives, and fans, he often gets complacent, especially on the offensive end.

Following his big night, Davis explained why he sometimes loses his aggression.

“I got out there and I think I think too much. I know some of the moves I want to get to going into each game and I look to make the right plays — like you said, being aggressive and it’s a big difference. The games when I’m aggressive it definitely carries our team. That’s got to be my mindset from here on out.”

Obviously, Davis is going to have to play at his best if the Lakers want any hope of winning this series. Even with LeBron and a strong supporting cast, Davis is the key to this team’s success.

So far, he has answered the call in a huge way, and we are seeing L.A. reap the benefits. But can he sustain this level of play and stay aggressive for the remainder of this postseason?

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
