Kevin Durant Breaks Down Why The Clippers Collapsed Against Nuggets

3 Min Read

It’s been a week since they last played in the bubble but the Los Angeles Clippers remain as one of the hottest topics in the league right now. The Californians landed in the bubble with huge expectations after a moved offseason; they looked well in the first four games of the second round until they dramatically fell apart, blew a 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets and left the bubble as one of the biggest fiascoes the league has seen in recent years.

Everybody is trying to find an explanation for that result. Some say it was the players’ fault, others say it was Doc Rivers and his inability to make in-game adjustments what cost the Clippers horrifyingly losing a big advantage.

This week, Kevin Durant tried to explain this whole situation. During a recent interview with Joe Budden, the now Brooklyn Nets star did his best to explain why a team with a lot of great players fell apart when everything looked fine for them. According to KD, the key was the defense.

“To see them lose like that, it was definitely shocking,” he said.

“They had the most talent. they [were] the deepest team in the NBA top-to-bottom.”

So what happened, then?

“The Clippers weren’t on the same page on defense all series,” Durant continued. “That’s why they lost.”

He was asked if he felt the duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George didn’t work that well, but Durant didn’t believe that was the case.

“I don’t think so,” he replied.

Everybody has a theory of what could happen with the Clippers and the reality is that they are out of competition and getting a lot of jokes for this meltdown. Next season they’ll try to improve what they did this one and reach the Finals Conference once and for all. However, winning an NBA title will be even more complicated since KD and his Nets will try to beat everybody on their way to their first championship in franchise history.
