  • Anthony Edwards is one of the NBA’s best young players
  • Edwards shared his list of the top five NBA players of all time
  • Edwards surprisingly excluded LeBron James from his list

Anthony Edwards was asked to give his list of the top five NBA players of all time and there were some pretty big names on there like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. There was one glaring omission on Edwards’ list, though, as he didn’t include LeBron James.

“MJ, Kobe, (Shaquille O’Neal). That’s three,” Edwards said. “Allen Iverson and I mean, of course, (Kevin Durant) for me.”

Edwards is entitled to his opinion, but LeBron not being on a top-five list is a bit odd. With all due respect to Allen Iverson, he’s probably the one who you’d bump from this list for James. Iverson had an incredible NBA career, but LeBron with his four championships, four Finals MVPs, and four MVPs should pretty much be a lock for the top five.

It is Edwards’ list, though, and you can gather from this that the Minnesota Timberwolves star really rates scorers very highly. That’s his game too, of course, as Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game in the 2022-23 season. Some other notable exclusions here would be the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson, but it’s probably not surprising that a 22-year-old didn’t include them.

Anthony Edwards Once Stated Kevin Durant Is His GOAT

Edwards doesn’t mention who he thinks is the greatest ever in that clip, but he did speak about it a few years back. Edwards picked Kevin Durant as his GOAT over Jordan and LeBron, with the reasoning being that Durant is a seven-footer who does everything that a point guard can do.

The 2014 MVP is certainly one of a kind, and Edwards has a lot of respect for him. Durant was also on Edwards’ all-time starting five, where he included himself as well. Interestingly, the rest of the five were LeBron, Iverson, and O’Neal. Jordan and Kobe weren’t on there, as Edwards picked himself over them.
