Anthony Edwards Explains Incredible Turnover Against Spurs: “I Was Finna Dunk It And Everybody Was Yelling ‘3, 3, 3’.”

2 Min Read

Anthony Edwards made the headlines again on Sunday when he cost the Minnesota Timberwolves a last opportunity to win a close, hard-fought game against the San Antonio Spurs. With the scoreboard 125-122 in favor of San Antonio, Edwards had the ball and was driving to the basket to score two points. At the last second, he changed his mind and looked for one of the players at the perimeter.

That didn’t work as San Antonio intercepted that pass to win the game, with Edwards starring in a crazy blunder for his team. After the game was over, Ricky Rubio approached him and told him a few words about his mistake in that play. Edwards explained what happened during that moment and what Ricky Rubio told him after his mistake.

“I was finna dunk it and everybody was yelling ‘3, 3, 3’,” Edwards explained to the media.

It was a rookie mistake that cost a game but Rubio made sure to teach the player what he should do next when he finds himself in the same position. Edwards has been great for the Timberwolves this season so this mistake won’t change the perception of him this campaign.

He also said he felt he should have called a timeout instead of rushing the play, but that’s how things went for them. This kid has been making headlines in recent times, especially related to his intelligence and some of the comments he’s made since entering the league.

Edwards has a bright future ahead and the best way to learn and get better is by making mistakes.
