  • Brandon Ingram had a poor outing against New Zealand in the FIBA World Cup
  • Anthony Edwards has been “staying” in Ingram’s ear
  • The shooting guarded Ingram noted that Ingram “can figure it out”

Forward Brandon Ingram is one of the best wing players in the league, having a diverse skill set with playmaking and scoring ability. He is one of the faces of the New Orleans Pelicans franchise and was selected to compete with Team USA in the FIBA World Cup this summer.

Though he is clearly a star in the NBA, Brandon Ingram has struggled on the international stage. In his FIBA World Cup debut against New Zealand, he put up 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists, while going 1-4 from the field. Ingram also expressed frustration with his current role on Team USA recently. With that being said, it seems as though Anthony Edwards is supporting Ingram, calling the forward a “superstar” and stating that he is continuing to talk to Ingram through his struggles.

“He gets paid the big bucks; like, he’s one of the best players in the NBA,” Edwards said per Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “He’s a superstar in the league, so he can figure it out on his own, but it’s nothing like somebody staying your ear. They stay in my ear. So, just keep talking to him, ’cause you know, a couple shots might not go his way. He might get a couple turnovers and get down. I mean, I get down sometimes because I turn it over or miss a couple shots.”

It is quite possible that we see Brandon Ingram bounce back from his poor performance against New Zealand in Team USA’s next game against Greece on August 28th. The key for him will be being more aggressive, and we’ll see how he performs in the future.

This past season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Brandon Ingram averaged 24.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 39.0% from 3PT range. A player of his talent will find a way to shine at some point in the FIBA tournament, and hopefully, that comes sooner rather than later for Team USA.

Brandon Ingram Recently Signed With Jordan Brand

Aside from being selected to compete with Team USA, Brandon Ingram has also received other good news this summer. It was recently reported that Ingram has signed a multi-year shoe deal with Jordan Brand, joining other stars such as his teammate Zion Williamson and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum.

Brandon Ingram playing well in the FIBA World Cup would definitely help him and Jordan Brand garner even more attention. We will see how he does going forward, and the bright side is, that the only way to go from his performance against New Zealand is upwards.
