Ben Simmons had a very good Monday night on the offensive end of the ball, dropping 42 points on the Utah Jazz but failing to get the win as the West-leading team beat his Philadelphia 76ers, 134-123. He was carrying his team and had a good match against the Jazz, who made Rudy Gobert guard him trying to stop the Australian player.
That should be a compliment for any player in the league but Simmons didn’t feel that way, calling it ‘disrespectful’ after the game was over. With his height and his talents to go at the post, Simmons is hard to guard for several point guards so Quin Snyder gave Gobert the not-so-easy job of guarding him. As we know now, that didn’t sit well for Simmons.
“I saw Rudy was guarding me, I mean, I love going at someone like that. I felt like it was a bit disrespectful putting him on me, but it is what it is,” the Aussie told reporters.

It’s unclear what Simmons meant with “disrespectful” but Gobert still couldn’t stop him, with Ben dropping 42 points. He had to guard Jordan Clarkson on the other end and the 6MOY candidate scored 40 on the Sixers star. They missed Joel Embiid on Monday night and the Jazz made them pay for that.
Although Simmons had a great night, it wasn’t enough to take this team to the win. The Sixers have now lost three games in a row and they will try to bounce back against the Houston Rockets this Wednesday.
