Bill Simmons Says The New York Knicks Would Trade For Anthony Davis: “I Think The Knicks Would Overpay For Him, I Think The Knicks Are Ready To Dive In This Summer.”

2 Min Read

Anthony Davis has been plagued with injuries for the second season in a row and questions have been asked about his long-term future with the Los Angeles Lakers. Although there are no concrete reports of a move or a trade, there has been plenty of speculation suggesting that Davis could be on the move this offseason as the Lakers look to make the most of LeBron James while he’s still playing at a high level.

Several potential destinations where Davis could end up have been discussed, including a return to his hometown of Chicago with the Bulls. While any move remains an unlikely situation, teams will still definitely be interested in AD despite his struggles with injury. And Bill Simmons, speaking on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast’, explained that the New York Knicks would be among those that would offer a significant package for Davis.

“You would need like these two big chess pieces back for AD that LeBron could win with immediately. I think the Knicks would overpay for him, I think the Knicks are ready to dive in this summer, that’s my take.”

The New York Knicks thought they had a breakout star of their own after a stellar year last season for Julius Randle but he has dropped off just as drastically as he broke out, and the Knicks are not making the playoffs this season. A star is something that New York has been starved of since Carmelo Anthony’s departure and Anthony Davis would certainly fit the bill in that regard.

The Lakers likely won’t trade Davis as he still has a few years before age takes a toll on him, but considering the number of injuries he has suffered from, they might be forced to make a move. In any case, any potential trade for AD would involve many more suitors from across the league, so the odds of him playing at MSG next season are still very, very small.
