Several NBA players have some sort of resentment towards an old team. Whether they were mistreated during their stay, were traded when nobody thought they would be, or even if they didn’t get a wish granted, some players simply don’t like certain franchises around the league.
Tyrese Haliburton recently talked about this, but he made it clear he doesn’t want to hold any grudges against the Sacramento Kings. Moreover, he’s not the only one who might have something against his old team. Ben Simmons enters that category too, but this time, we’re talking about 2021 NBA champion Bobby Portis.
The big man has found his place in the world with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he’s played his best game, showing that he can actually help a team win a championship. It was a hard journey for Portis, who had to play for teams that didn’t value him. The New York Knicks are the perfect example of that, which is why many people were shocked when he admitted he would want to play for them again.
Bobby Portis on what former team he would go back to play for:
“I’d probably go back and play with the Knicks… My first go around with them, wasn’t good. Our team was a little different …we had like, 5 power forwards.”

It took a couple of days before Portis clarified his comments, saying that he was actually trolling and wouldn’t return to the Knicks, taking a big shot at the New Yorkers for everything he lived there.
I was just trolling tbh. That was the most miserable year of my career. Thankful for it though..made me come back stronger. https://t.co/fTt91pxnVW

Portis has no love for the Knicks, and it’s not like he needs to be loved by them, either. He’s a very valued part of the Milwaukee Bucks that are competing for championships every season, and it’s pretty clear that he’s not missing the Knicks. Still, as he said, this situation made him stronger, and he should be thankful for that. Then again, don’t expect him to join the Knicks for the rest of his career.
