In honor of their 75th anniversary season, the NBA announced they would be releasing their list of the top 75 greatest players ever.
The list will apparently come to light in October, right in time for the start of the new season, and it will be created by a panel of many players, media members, and executives.
It’s official. The NBA’s milestone 75th Anniversary Season is upon us and the celebration will last throughout the 2021-22 campaign. The landmark season will be commemorated as “NBA 75” and will soon feature a list of the 75 greatest players in league history.
This massive NBA 75 landmark will pay tribute to generations of basketball fans around the world, as well as current and former players and coaches. Throughout the season, the league will continue its decades-long legacy of supporting the communities where the NBA family lives, works and plays and by improving lives through the game of basketball.
The unveil of the NBA’s 75 greatest players in league history will occur this October. The storied list will be created by a blue-ribbon panel of media, current and former players, coaches, general managers, and team executives.
The NBA did something similar during their 50th anniversary, and it was a lot of fun for fans to see and discuss the ultimate player list.
And as much fun as it’s going to be this season, it’s also going to be hugely controversial, as former NBA player Brian Scalabrine hinted at on SiriusXM NBA radio.
“75 players are gonna be on this team. How many people are going to be upset?
Current players are going to be mad. Ja Morant might be mad that he’s not on it. I mean… these guys get mad about their NBA2K ratings. There’s going to be some outrage and it’s going to go on forever.
Kyrie’s gonna be mad. He’s not gonna be on the 75, but he’s gonna be on the list of players who are mad. And there are gonna be other players mad.”

Every time a new ranking gets released, it always gets met with criticism and hate, whether by fans, players, or the media.
This time, considering this list will come from the NBA itself, it’s probably fair to say a lot of feelings will be hurt.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
