Brandom Ingram has been compared to some great players in the past, and adding to it was ESPN’s Brian Windhorst who compared him to Brooklyn Nets star, Kevin Durant.
Looked at as one of the best shooters in the league, the New Orleans Pelicans forward was instrumental in taking the side to the eighth seed in the Western Conference last season.
Speaking on The Hoop Collective, Windhorst likened the 25-year-old to Durant saying that he was one of those unguardable players when he hits his stride on the court. His lean frame and ability to shoot from anywhere across the floor further cements the analyst’s comparison.
“Brandon Ingram is the closest thing I’ve seen to Kevin Durant. He’s unguardable at times man, when he’s got it going, he’s unguardable.”
Brandon Ingram’s Production From 3-Point Land In Focus In The Upcoming Season
Much of the scrutiny last year was on Ingram’s dip in this three-point percentage, After his first couple of seasons saw a healthy 38% from downtown, the number dipped to 32.7% — something that his injury may have played a major part in.
However, those numbers improved when the team hit the postseason. He suited up for the side in 55 games and proved to be their offensive weapon averaging 22.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the floor.
His scintillating performances against the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs see him at No.27 in ESPN’s player rankings. His shotmaking and his marked improvement in the assist and defense department added to the reason behind his Top 30 finish.
With the likes of Williamson and CJ McCollum to share the hardwood with, Ingram will be a key player for the Pelicans as they will look to make another playoff run. Ironically, they open their season against the very player that Windhorst compared him to — Durant and the Nets, on October 19 at Barclays Center.
